Higher expectations for kindergarteners mean higher expectations of those who work with families to prepare young learners for school success. Last year’s report from the Institute of Medicine on Transforming the Workforce for Children Birth through Age 8 will continue to influence the field of early childhood education. In Virginia, House Bill 46 has been introduced to establish a committee with the goal of “ensuring an effective professional development and credentialing system for the early childhood education workforce in the Commonwealth.” Fairfax Futures is committed to helping early care and education professionals develop the competencies needed to help young children in their care achieve well-being and success.
