Strategic Plan 2019-2021
Launched as a nonprofit organization in 2004, Fairfax Futures is in its 18th year of building collaborations, supporting partnerships and engaging community leadership around issues related to young children’s school readiness.
In the spring of 2018, the Board of Directors engaged in a strategic planning process, resulting in a revised mission and vision statement, and three-year roadmap that will help guide Fairfax Futures’ work through 2021.
Vision: Every child has equitable access to quality early childhood education to succeed and thrive.
Mission: Fairfax Futures invests in school readiness by collaborating with and inspiring early childhood educators, engaging with families and partnering with businesses and the local community.
The 2019 – 2021 Strategic Plan focuses on the following areas:
- ADVOCACY ENGAGEMENT: Serve as the voice and resource on early childhood education issues by engaging with the business community and other leaders across the region. Through a whole community commitment, ensure every child in Fairfax County has access to high-quality early childhood education programs and educators.
- SERVICE TO COMMUNITY: Cultivate the case for, interest in and funding for school readiness initiatives, such as professional learning, mentoring and resource sharing for early childhood educators and parents. Through these opportunities, ensure that early childhood educators are equipped to meet children’s learning needs as well as identify social-emotional and behavioral concerns before a child enters kindergarten. For example, seek funding opportunities for new initiatives that support the county’s Equitable School Readiness Strategic Plan.
- ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY: Capitalize on our organizational capacity by utilizing robust technology and performance-driven goal setting. Advance internal operations and processes by crafting a robust marketing/communications plan and fundraising/donor development plan with clear messaging, goals and actions to guide Fairfax Futures’ through 2021.
