This fall, Fairfax Futures received a $5,000 grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation to support the integration of developmentally-appropriate STEM experiences in early childhood settings. STEM refers to education in science, technology, engineering and math.
Fairfax Futures will work in partnership with Fairfax County Office for Children to offer a 14-hour certificate course designed to strengthen the STEM skills and competencies of a cohort of early childhood educators working with 3-5 year old children. This is the third year that the initiative has been offered. Fairfax Futures thanks Dominion for its continued support. Early STEM experiences are critical to help nurture young children’s natural curiosity and their innate passion for discovery and exploration.
Since 2017, nearly 70 early childhood educators have completed the program.
