Fairfax Futures is excited to celebrate another milestone in our Early Childhood Curriculum Initiative: Inspiring and Shaping Young Minds. This initiative provides participating early childhood programs with a free kit which includes The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos. To qualify for this hands-on training and coaching course, early childhood programs must be enrolled in Ready Regions and not using a curriculum. Through comprehensive training and ongoing support, educators gain the knowledge and confidence to implement the curriculum with fidelity, creating engaging learning experiences for our youngest children.
Early Childhood Educator Engages Young Learners with Curriculum Materials
On July 11, 13 early childhood educators from 2 child care centers and 5 family child care home programs completed the 8-week professional learning course and gathered for an in-person celebration. The highlight from this gathering was the peer-to-peer connection with the educators sharing their experiences implementing The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos in their programs. Participants shared how they have adapted activities to support mixed-age groups, individualized instruction, and the unique needs of children in a variety of settings. These peer-to-peer conversations provided practical ideas and inspiration while reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the cohort model. One particularly meaningful strategy has been to send curriculum books home with families and encourage parents to read with their children, including infants, helping to strengthen early language development and family engagement.

Building Knowledge Through a Cohort Model
Educators participate in a series of in-person and virtual learning sessions designed to build their understanding of the curriculum while supporting successful implementation.
The first in-person kick-off session introduces participants to the curriculum and provides each educator with the complete set of print materials.
Participants from cohort 1&2 are introduced to materials and the course
Seeing Growth in the Classroom
Initial fidelity observations through this initiative have been especially encouraging. With this most recent cohort, educators are consistently incorporating all three daily curriculum resources into their teaching, demonstrating increased confidence with the curriculum as well as meaningful progress toward high-quality implementation.
Fairfax Futures and partner, Fairfax County’s Institute for Early Learning, are committed to refining our training and support strategies to scaffold learning, strengthen implementation, and ensure educators have the tools they need to create rich, responsive learning environments for the County’s youngest learners.
We are grateful to each participating educator for their dedication to continuous learning and to providing high-quality early learning experiences that help shape bright futures for young children.
Special thanks to the John & Janice Wyatt Foundation for its continued financial support of this work and to Fairfax Futures Board Members Bernadette Costello and Christine Schull, who attended the celebration event.
